ABOUT

EARLY LIFE

Born and raised in small town Saskatchewan; I take pride in where I come from. As an artist, I use these beautiful flatlands as my inspiration when creating projects.

I have always had a desire to create. As a child I was constantly doodling on paper which eventually transformed into applying technology and creating cartoon artwork in Computer class.  Another one of my favorite classes during school was Shop, creating various projects out of wood and metal.

POST EDUCATION

Right after high school I chose to work for a few years until I figured out what I wanted as a career.  My first real full-time job just happened to be in the steel industry, as an iron worker.  On my breaks I found myself creating metal art pieces for family and friends. As I reflect back on these days, I realize that I had found my passion.

A couple of years later, I moved to Saskatoon to pursue an education in 3D Animation and Game Design.  I learned many things in regards to 3D software and computers in general.  I graduated from New Media Campus in 2005 and while looking for a career in video games I was able to fall back on my knowledge in the steel industry to help pay the bills.

2007 - NOW

I started working as a welder for DyMark Industries back in January of 2007 and was promoted to Steel Detailer after my boss found out that I had knowledge of 3D software. I am now proficient in Tekla Structures - BIM (Building Information Modelling) software as well as AutoCad.  I am currently the Senior Steel Detailer for the company managing a team of five.

I truly love taking an idea that has been sketched onto a napkin and making it a reality.  Flatland Metalworks allows me to take my passion for computers, art and metal and 'welds' them together.
